There Is No Manual

There is no manual. Not even a map.

No one came into this world with a book in hand or folded brochure of how to work our way through this thing.

I spent years, and a lot of money, waiting for the

  • “pop”

  • “a-ha”

  • “that’s it!”

That magical mysterious moment where confusion becomes clarity, and I could confidently march forward with certainty and direction.

To someone suffering with indecision or worthiness, this a-ha moment holds the possibility of relief.

The potential of understanding. The promise of “right”. Making things right. Getting things right. Choosing the right thing so I could confirm I was on the “right” path.

Today, I remind myself there is no “right” choice.

No guru, course, podcast, book, or expert who knows my next best step. No golden key that unlocks all of the answers.

I will make a choice and make it right.

Life is a series of check-ins and choices. My only job is to go inward before I go outward.

There has been a lot of great marketing around transformation.

An internet full of life-experts, life-hackers, and life-changing courses promising peace.

When I was in the throes of suffering – I ran to every book, podcast, program, and professional in hope they had the answer.

After years of both powerful and pitiful experiences, I can confidently say – the good ones, the ones that landed, that changed my perspective, that offered sustainable shifts were the ones that invited me to get curious and compassionate from the inside out.

Just a bunch of us trying to do our best as we navigate the inevitable waves of being human.
