What Kids Want From Coaches

“People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care” - Theodore Roosevelt

It’s not how much we know, what awards we won, who we trained with, or our winning formula.

When it comes to developing athlete engagement, commitment, trust, and genuine connection- the kids are clear on what they want from their leader and what will keep them coming back.

  • Respect & Encouragement

  • Positive Role Models

  • Clear, Consistent Communication

  • Knowledge of Sport

  • Someone who listens

This research (Visek et al., Journal of Physical Activity & Health, 2014)  highlights the power and importance relationships between coach & athlete. It was a paper dedicated to Fun Integration and keeping children and adolescents in sport and it offers a rock solid reminder to connect back in with our WHY and core values
